Introduction

This is a list of ratings in the United States Navy. A rating is a Sailor's occupational specialty. Ratings are separated in to different fields: administration, deck, medical, technical, weapons, engineering/hull, construction and aviation. Some jobs are further separated in to sub-specialties which are also included at the end of this guide. Each ratings has its own insignia which is used on a Sailor's rating badge and worn on the uniform to indicate their rate.
