Pectoral region

MuscleInnervation, action, proximal and distal attachments
Pectoralis major- Innervation: Medial and lateral pectoral nerves
- Action: adducts and mediallly rotates humerus; flexes humerus
- Proximal attachment:
--- Calvicular head: medial clavicle
--- Sternocostal head: sternum, upper costal cartilages
- Distal attachment: lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Pectoralis minor- Innervation: medial pectoral nerve
- Action: protracts, depresses, stablizes scapula
- Proximal attachment: ribs 3-5
- Distal attachment: Coracoid process of the scapula
Serratus anterior- Innervation: Long thoracic nerve
- Action: protracts scapula; rotates scapula
- Proximal attachmenet: ribs 1-8
- Distal attachment: anterior surface of medial border of scapula
Subclavius- Innervation: nerve to subclavius
- Action: anchors and depresses clavicle
- Proximal attachent: inferior surface of middle third of clavicle
- Distal attachment: junction of 1st rib and its costal cartilage

Scapular region

MuscleInnervation, action, proximal and distal attachments
Deltoid- Innervation: axillary nerve
- Action: flexes and medially rotates arm, abducts arm, extends and laterally rotates arm
- Proximal attachment: deltoid tuberosity of the humerus
Teres major- Innervation: lower subscapular nerve
- Action: adducts and medially rotates arm
- Proximal attachment: inferior angle of scapula
- Distal attachment: medial lip of intertubercular sulcus of the humerus
Suprasinatus- Innervation: suprascapular nerve
- Action: Initiates and assists deltoid in abduction of arm
- Proximal attachment: supraspinous fossa of scapula
- Distal attachment: great tubercle of humerus
Infraspinatus- Innervaiton: suprascapular nerve
- Action: lateral rotation of the arm
- Proximal attachment: Infraspinous fossa of scapula
- Distal attachment: greater tubercle of humerus
Teres minor- Innervation: axillary nerve
- Action: Lateral rotation of the arm
- Proximal attachment: lateral border of scapula
- Distal attachment: greater tubercle of humerus
Subscapularis- Innervation: Upper and lower subscapular nerves
- Action: medially rotates and adducts arm
- Proximal attachment: subscapular fossa of scapula
- Distal attachment: lesser tubercle of humerus
