Hashing Algorithms

MD5Produces 128-bit message digest. No longer considered strong hash function.
SHAModeled after MD5. Produce 160-bit, 256-bit, 384-bit, 512-bit.
NTLMUsed for Microsoft products. Introduced in later versions of Windows NT.
RIPEMDHas 128-bit, 160-bit, 256-bit and 320-bit versions.
HMACUsed to verify both integrity and authenticity of messages.

Symmetric Algorithm

DES(Data Encryption Standard) - Block-Cipher. Encrypts data in 64-bit blocks using a 56-bit key with 8 bits used for parity. Weak algorithm.
3DES(Triple or 3DES) Processes each block of data three times using different key each time.
AES(Adv Encryption Standard) - 128-bit, 192-bit or 256-bit block cipher. Supercedes DES.
BlowfishFreely available 64-bit block cipher. No longer considered strong.
TwofishBlock size of 128-bit and key sizes up to 256 bits.

Asymmetric Algorithm

DH(Diffie Hellman) - Provides secure key exchange.
ECC(Elliptic Curve Cryptography) - Public key encryption that leverages the algebraic structures of elliptic curves over finite fields. Used in wireless and mobile devices.
DHEUses ephemeral keys to provide secure key exchange.
ECDHEIncorporates the use of ECC and ephemeral keys.
