lunifer's version from 2018-06-19 12:23

Read Me

this is based off mr parlee's class' notes (handouts from the presenters themselves), so the other class' tests will be quite different
for the two other classes, either there will be no *accurate* memorize test (il try be as general as possible?), or somebody else who does have access to the notes makes it
yes im aware that the test will be easy, so you can choose to not care much about the accuracy of the answers if you want, as long as you get the idea

find the complete, beautiful looking note archive trello here: https://trello.com/b/zNNPgtQV/body-systems

some notes are sorta lacking (or maybe its my fault) so if you have better notes to replace one of the systems, i'll gladly update the trello and memorize.com

what do ceruminous glands produce?earwax
memorize

Working with Other Systems

how does the integumentary work with the...
Question Answer
immune system?skin is one of the first defense mechanisms in the immune system, protects body overall
digestive system?works with the digestive system for intake of vitamin D, healthy digestive system = healthy skin and hair
circulatory system?substances can enter the bloodstream through the surface of the skin
nervous system?they work together to form the sense of touch
memorize

Illnesses

Question Answer
name 2 illnesses of the integumentary systempossible answers: skin cancer, warts, eczema, acne, psoriasis, etc
psoriasis is when red, itchy ______ appear on the elbows and kneesplaques
acne is caused by a disorder of ______ and ____ glandshair and oil
memorize

Nervous System

Basics

Question Answer
the nervous system controls _____ order within the bodyinternal
the nervous system arranges the activities of ______ and _______muscles and organs
collects information from _____ organssense
what are the five sense organs?eyes, ears, nose, tongue, skin
memorize

Functions

there are three functions of the nervous system...
Question Answer
Sensory Functioninformation from inside the body and the outside environment is collected, then brought to the central nervous system by sensory nerves
Interpretive Functiononce the sensory information is brought to the nervous system, it is processed and interpreted
Motor Functionthe information from the central nervous system is carried by motor nerves to the muscles and glands
memorize

Organs

Question Answer
the spinal cord receives information receives information from the ____, ______ and ______ of your bodyskin, joints, and muscles
nerve fibresprovide common pathway for the electrochemical nerve impulses, that are transmitted to peripheral organs
brainmost complicated part of nervous system. center of our thoughts, interpreter of our external environment, and origin over body movement
what are the two types of the nervous system?peripheral nervous system and central nervous system
what is the peripheral nervous system?made up of nerve fibres that branch off the spinal cord and extend to all parts of the body
what is the central nervous system?made up of the brain and spinal cord
memorize

Working with Other Systems

Question Answer
skeletal systemprotects nervous system, gives it calcium so it can function properly
muscular systembrain gets info about body position and movement from muscles, muscles are controlled by the brain
respiratory systemthe brain controls the respiratory rate
digestive systemthe brain receives sensory information from the digestive system
integumentary systemthe brain receives sensory information from the receptors in the skin
excretory systemgets rid of waste and releases it when the nervous system sends signals
